California Lottery Daily Derby General Information and Links

The California Daily Derby lottery is a game based on horse racing. The player selects three horses in the order of which comes first, second, and third. In addition the time for the first horse to finish has to chosen. The prizes are allocated on pari-mutuel basis, that is, winnings depend on the amount wagered per draw and the number of winners sharing that amount.

California Daily Derby drawing schedule: Daily Derby drawings are held once a day at approximately 7 p.m. daily.

How to Play California Lottery Daily Derby

Find a lottery retailer (a gas station, a convenience store, a food store, etc. which plays California Lottery) and grab a Daily Derby playslip. A playslip contains three different play areas, marked Play A through Play C. Each play area represents a different Daily Derby play. If you want to play only one game, fill out only the Play A panel. if you want to play 15, then get five playslips and fill all the panels, A to C of all of them. Each panel costs $2.

Each play panel contains two sections. The upper section is for selecting the horses and the lower for the racing time. The upper section contains the list of horses and three colmns for the three positions. Mark the first, second, and third positions in the columns aligned with the horses of your choice. For example, if choose to play 1st: EUREKA(07), 2nd: MONEY BAGS(11), 3rd: LUCKY STAR(02), then, mark the first column aligned with 07, mark the second column aligned with 11, and mark the third column aligned with 02.

The lower setion contains three columns of the digits 0 to 9. The racing time range from 1:40:00 to 1:49:99. So, what you have to choose is the last three digits only (from 0.00 to 9.99). If you want to predict a racing time of 1:45.16, then mark 5 on the first column, 1 on the second column, and 6 on the third column.

Next, present the completed playslip to the lottery retailer to receive your printed ticket. Check your ticket immediately to ensure that the numbers, dates, and play type match your request.
