Colorado Lottery General Information

The Colorado Lottery plays two state drawn game - Cash 5 and Lotto. Plus, two multiple-state games - Powerball and Mega Millions. Colorado is one of the few lottery states that doesn't play 3 or 4-digit games.

Top prizes listed with "rollover" are the starting amount. The Jackpot prizes will grow after every draw until someone wins. Pari-mutuel prize structure means players' winnings are determined by dividing the prize pool allocated for that winning category by the number of winners.

Colorado Lottery General Rules and Regulations

The following are the most prominent rules and regulations that the player should be aware of before playing the Colorado lottery games.

  • You must be 18 years or older to purchase Colorado Lottery tickets. Howevr, tickets can be purchased as gifts for people under 18 years-old. Anyone under the age of 18 must have received the ticket as a gift to claim the prize
  • Colorado Lottery tickets are not sold by phone, mail, or on the Internet
  • Losing a Lottery ticket is like losing cash. Protect yourself by signing the back of your ticket and filling in your address. Unless signed, anyone who has the ticket can file a claim.The Colorado Lottery is not responsible for lost or stolen tickets
  • You do not have to be a citizen of the United States to purchase Colorado Lottery tickets. The only difference is you will be taxed at a higher rate than citizens. Non-citizens are taxed at 34% (30% Federal; 4% State).
  • Colorado Lottery prizes must be claimed within 180 days from the drawing date.

Claiming Prizes of the Colorado Lottery

The Lottery offers players a number of ways to claim prizes. You can mail the signed ticket to the Lottery's Pueblo Headquarters with a Lottery claim form, or in person at any one of the Lottery's four claims centers. Winning Powerball jackpots must be claimed at either the Lottery's Pueblo headquarters or Denver claims center. Lotto jackpots may be claimed at any of the Lottery's four offices.
