Ohio Lottery Pick 4 General Information and Links
How to Play Ohio Pick 4 Lottery
From a Ohio Lottery retailer (a gas station, a convenience store, a food store, etc. which plays OH Lottery) get
a Pick 4 playslip. A playslip contains five different play areas. Each play area represents a different Pick 4 play.
Each play area contains four rows of the digits 0 to 9. Mark the first digit of your number on the first row, the second digit
on the second row, the third digit on the third row, and the fourth digit on the fourth row. So, if you want to play
8142, then 8 will be marked in the first row, 1 in the second row, 4 in the third row, and 2 in the fourth row. Next
select and mark the amount (50¢ or $1), then select the type of play - Straight, Box, or Backup.
The numbers you are playing are valid only for the next draw. You may specify either the day or evining draw, or both. In fact,
playing both draws doubles the price.
Next, present the completed playslip to the lottery retailer to receive your printed ticket. Check your ticket immediately to
ensure that the numbers, dates, and play type match your request.
Play Types and How You Win the Ohio Pick 4 Lottery
There are three ways you can play and win the Ohio Pick 4 game - two basic types and one shortcut of the basic types. These types
together with how much is paid for a winning Ohio Pick 4 game type are listed below.
The basic Pick 4 play types are:
Straight: You win by matching the winning Pick 4 number in the exact order drawn. For example, if you play the
8142 as Straight, you'll win only if the winning number is exactly 8142; you don't win anything if the winning number is 8412 or 8144.
The prize of Ohio Pick 4 Straight game is $5,000 for a $1 game and $2,500 for a 50¢ game.
Box: You win by matching the numbers in any order. For example, if you play 8142 as Box, you'll win if the
Pick 4 winning number contains the four digits 1, 2, 4, and 8 in any order, such as 2148 or 4218; but not if any one is missing like 8144.
The prize of Ohio Pick 4 box play depends on whether the digits are repeated or not. A number such as 8142, where none of the
digits repeats is called a 24-way box and pays $200 for a $1 game and $100 for a 50¢ game. If one of the digits is
double, like 8182, then it is called a 12-way box and pays $400 for a $1 game and $200 for a 50¢ game. If two digits
are doubled, like 8118, then it is called a 6-way box and pays $800 for a $1 game and $400 for a 50¢ game. If one of
the digits is tripled, like 8188, then it is called a 4-way box and pays $1198 for a $1 game and $599 for a 50¢
game. There is no Box play for numbers with all four identical digits such as 8888. These Pick 4 numbers can only be played Straight.
And the shortcut play type is:
Back-Up bet (Straight/Box): is simply a combination of a 50¢ Straight play and a 50¢ Box play. This play
type is designed to save you time; it is a shortcut of playing one game of straight and another game of Box of the same number.
That is, instead of filling one panel for 50¢ Straight and another panel for 50¢ Box, of the same number, you might as
well fill out just one panel and mark it as Backup. Note that the minimum amount for a Backup game is $1.
The prize of a Backup play is the sum of a 50¢ Straight game and a 50¢ Box game. For example, if you play 8142
as Backup, and if the winning number is 8142, then you'll win $2600 ($2500 for the Straight part + $100 for the Box part).
If the winning number is 8124, you'll win only $100 for the Box part since you did not match it Straight. How much do you win with
Backup of the number
