How to Play Oklahoma Pick 4 Lottery

From a Oklahoma Lottery retailer (a gas station, a convenience store, a food store, etc. which plays OK Lottery) get a Pick 4 playslip. A playslip contains five different play areas, marked Panel A through Panel E. Each play area represents a different Pick 4 play. If you want to play only one number, fill out only the first panel, Panel A; if you want to play 10 numbers, then get two playslips and fill all the panels, A to E of both of them.

Each play panel contains four columns of the digits 0 to 9. Mark the first digit of your number on the first column, the second digit on the second column, the third digit on the third column, and the fourth digit on the fourth column. So, if you want to play 8142, then 8 will be marked in the first column, 1 in the second column, 4 in the third column, and 2 in the fourth column. Next select the type of play - Straight, Box, or Combo.

The other three play types need only partial selection of numbers. For "Front Pair", you need to mark only the first two columns, for "Mid Pair", you need to mark only the middle two columns, and for "Back Pair", you need to mark only the last two columns.

Next, present the completed playslip to the lottery retailer to receive your printed ticket. Check your ticket immediately to ensure that the numbers, dates, and play type match your request.

Play Types and How You Win the Oklahoma Pick 4 Lottery

There are six ways you can play and win the Oklahoma Pick 4 game - five basic types and one shortcut of the basic types. These types together with how much is paid for a winning Oklahoma Pick 4 game type are listed below.

The basic Pick 4 play types are:

  1. Straight: You win by matching the winning Pick 4 number in the exact order drawn. For example, if you play the 8142 as Straight, you'll win only if the winning number is exactly 8142; you don't win anything if the winning number is 8412 or 8144.

The prize of Oklahoma Pick 4 Straight game is $5,000.

  2. Box: You win by matching the numbers in any order. For example, if you play 8142 as Box, you'll win if the Pick 4 winning number contains the four digits 1, 2, 4, and 8 in any order, such as 2148 or 4218; but not if any one is missing like 8144.

The prize of Oklahoma Pick 4 Box play depends on whether the digits are repeated or not. A number such as 8142, where none of the digits repeats is called a 24-way Box and pays $200. If one of the digits is double, like 8182, then it is called a 12-way Box and pays $400. If two digits are doubled, like 8118, then it is called a 6-way Box and pays $800. If one of the digits is tripled, like 8188, then it is called a 4-way Box and pays $1200 game. There is no Box play for numbers with all four identical digits such as 8888. These Pick 4 numbers can only be played Straight.

  3. Front Pair: Select only the first two digits to win $50. For example, if you play the Front Pair 13 (i.e., 13XX), you'll win as long as the first two digits of the winning number are 13 in exact order. So, you'll win with 1300, 1392, etc., but not with 0130 or 3113.

  4. Mid Pair: Select only the middle two digits to win $50. For example, if you play the Mid Pair 13 (i.e., X13X), you'll win as long as the middle two digits of the winning number are 13 in exact order. So, you'll win with 0130, 1132, etc., but not with 1310 or 9913.

  5. Back Pair: Select only the last two digits to win $50. For example, if you play the Back Pair 13 (i.e., XX13), you'll win as long as the last two digits of the winning number are 13 in exact order. So, you'll win with 0013, 9813, etc., but not with 0031 or 3131.

And the shortcut play type is:

  1. Combo: This is the same as playing Straight all possible combination of the selected number. For example, if you want to win $5000 on the number 8188 in way it is drawn, then you have to play Straight all the possible combinations, namely, 8188, 1888, 8818, and 8881, at a price of $4 ($1 for each). The shortcut is simply to fill out any one of the combinations (say, 1888) and mark Combo; you'll still pay $4. Note that a $1 combo play of a non-repeating-digit numbers such as 8142 costs $24 since there are 24 possible combinations (1248, 2148, 1284, 1482, etc.).
