How to Play Texas Daily 4 Lottery
From a Texas Lottery retailer (a gas station, a convenience store, a food store, etc. which plays TX Lottery) get
a Daily 4 playslip. A playslip contains five different play areas. Each play area represents a different Daily 4 play.
Each play area contains four columns of the digits 0 to 9. Mark the first digit of your number on the first column, the second digit
on the second column, the third digit on the third column, and the fourth digit on the fourth column. So, if you want to play
8142, then 8 will be marked in the first column, 1 in the second column, 4 in the third column, and 2 in the fourth column. Next
select and mark the amount (50¢, $1, or $5), then select the type of play - Exact Order, Any Order, Exact/Any, or Combo.
The other three play types need only partial selection of numbers. For "Front Pair", you need to mark only the first two columns,
for "Mid Pair", you need to mark only the middle two columns, and for "Back Pair", you need to mark only the last two columns.
The numbers you are playing are valid only for the next draw. You may specify either the day or evining draw, or both. In fact,
playing both draws doubles the price.
Next, present the completed playslip to the lottery retailer to receive your printed ticket. Check your ticket immediately to
ensure that the numbers, dates, and play type match your request.

Play Types and How You Win the Texas Daily 4 Lottery
There are seven ways you can play and win the Texas Daily 4 game - two basic types and two shortcuts of the basic types. These types
together with how much is paid for a winning Texas Daily 4 game type are listed below.
The basic Daily 4 play types are:
Exact Order: You win by matching the winning Daily 4 number in the exact order drawn. For example, if you play 8142 as
Exact Order, you'll win only if the winning number is exactly 8142; you don't win anything if the winning number is 8412 or 8144.
The prize of Texas Daily 4 Exact Order game is $5,000 for a $1 game and $2,500 for a 50¢ game.
Any Order: You win by matching the numbers in any order. For example, if you play 8142 as Any Order, you'll win if the
Daily 4 winning number contains the four digits 1, 2, 4, and 8 in any order, such as 2148 or 4218; but not if any one is missing
like 8144.
The prize of Texas Daily 4 box play depends on whether the digits are repeated or not.
- A number such as 8142, where none of the digits repeats is called a 24-way box and pays $200 for a $1 game and $100
for a 50¢ game.
- If one of the digits is double, like 8182, then it is called a 12-way box and pays $400 for a $1 game and $200 for a
50¢ game.
- If two digits are doubled, like 8118, then it is called a 6-way box and pays $800 for a $1 game and $400 for a 50¢
game.
- If one of the digits is tripled, like 8188, then it is called a 4-way box and pays $1200 for a $1 game and $600 for a
50¢ game.
- There is no Any Order play for numbers with all four identical digits such as 8888. These Daily 4 numbers can only be played in
Exact Order.
Front Pair: Select only the first two digits to win $50 for a $1 game and $25 for a 50¢ game. For example, if
you play the Front Pair 13 (i.e., 13XX), you'll win as long as the first two digits of the winning number are 13 in exact order.
So, you'll win with 1300, 1392, etc., but not with 0130 or 3113.
Mid Pair: Select only the middle two digits to win $50 for a $1 game and $25 for a 50¢ game. For example, if
you play the Mid Pair 13 (i.e., X13X), you'll win as long as the middle two digits of the winning number are 13 in exact order.
So, you'll win with 0130, 1132, etc., but not with 1310 or 9913.
Back Pair: Select only the last two digits to win $50 for a $1 game and $25 for a 50¢ game. For example, if
you play the Back Pair 13 (i.e., XX13), you'll win as long as the last two digits of the winning number are 13 in exact order.
So, you'll win with 0013, 9813, etc., but not with 0031 or 3131.
And the shortcut play types are:
Exact/Any: is simply a combination of a 50¢ Exact Order play and a 50¢ Any Order play. This play type is
designed to save you time; it is a shortcut of playing one game of Exact Order and another game of Any Order of the same number.
That is, instead of filling one panel for 50¢ Exact Order and another panel for 50-cents Any Order, of the same number, you
might as well fill out just one panel and mark it as Exact/Any. Note that the minimum amount for a Exact/Any play type is $1.
The prize of a Exact/Any play is the sum of a 50¢ Exact game and a 50¢ Any game. For example, if you play 8142
as Exact/Any, and if the winning number is 8142, then you'll win $2600 ($2500 for the Exact part + $100 for the Any part).
If the winning number is 8124, you'll win only $100 for the Any part since you did not match it exactly. How much do you win with
Exact/Any of the number
8182? (Answer),
8118? (Answer),
8188? (Answer).
Combo: This is the same as playing Exact Order all possible combination of the selected number. For example, if you
want to win $5000 on the number 8188 in any order it is drawn, then you have to play Exact Order all the possible combinations,
namely, 8188, 1888, 8818, and 8881, at a price of $4 ($1 for each). The shortcut is simply to fill out any one of the combinations
(say, 1888) and mark Combo for $1; you'll still pay $4. Note that a $1 combo play of a non-repeating-digit number such as 8142
costs $24 since there are 24 possible combinations (1248, 2148, 1284, 1482, etc.).
Daily 4 Sum It Up
Sum It Up is an add-on feature to Daily 4, for an extra 50¢ or more, you can win a prize even if your exact numbers aren't
drawn. You'll win if the sum of your Daily 4 numbers is the same as the sum of the winning number. For example, if you play 8142
and if you add Sum It Up feature for $1, you'll win $8 as long as the sum the winning number is 15, such as 5055, 1239, 7800, etc.

complete prize list of Texas Daily 4 Sum It Up, which includes prizes for 50¢ and $1 to $5.
The prizes are inversely proportional to the odds of each sum. Sums of 0 and 36 are the least likely since each covers only one
number, 0000 and 9999, respectively. Therefore, they are allocated the highest prize. On the other hand, 16, 17, 18, 19, and 20
are the most likely to be drawn, thus with the lowest prizes.
