United States 3-Digit Lottery Games

3-Digit games are by far the most popular lottery games in the United States. Out of the 43 states that play lotteries in the United States, only Colorado, Montana, North Dakota, and South Dakota do not play these games. On the other hand, Massachusetts, Oregon, and Rhode Island play a 4-digit game which ingeniously integrates a 3-digit game into it. Most of the states have two draws a day while others have only one draw a day; Oregon has four draws a day. These games are known by the following different names in different states - Cash 3, Pick 3, Play 3, daily 3, The Numbers, Daily Numbers, Numbers, The Daily Game, and Lucky Numbers.

There are several reasons for the popularity of 3-digit games, the most prominent of which seems to be their deceptive appearance of an-easy-to-win game. Certainly, they do have lower odds of winning than multi-number games such as Lotto, thus resulting in lower prize amounts. They are, however, by no means easy to win, neither are they easy to play.
